How Do You See Things ?

  • We can see objects only when light shines on them and enters our eyes.
  • The Sun, bulbs, candles, and torches are sources of light.
  • Some objects give their own light (like the Sun), while others reflect light.
  • Light bounces off (reflects) from objects and enters our eyes.
  • This is how we are able to see those objects.
  • Transparent: Light passes through (e.g., glass).
  • Translucent: Light passes partially (e.g., frosted glass).
  • Opaque: Light does not pass through (e.g., wood, wall).
  • Shadows are formed when an object blocks light.
  • Shadows are always opposite to the direction of the light.
  • Our eyes are special sense organs that help us see things around us.
  • We must take care of our eyes and protect them from bright light or dust.
  • At night or in dark places, we use electric lights, lamps, or torches to help us see.

  • We can’t see in the dark because there is no light to reflect off objects into our eyes!
