Light

  • Light is a form of energy that helps us see things.
  • It travels in a straight line.
  • Natural sources: Sun, stars, fireflies.
  • Man-made sources: Bulbs, candles, torches.
  • The Sun gives us natural light during the day.
  • It also gives heat and helps plants grow.
  • We can see objects because light reflects off them into our eyes.
  • It helps us stay safe and do our daily activities.
  • A shadow is formed when an object blocks light.
  • Shadows are always formed on the opposite side of the light source.
  • Transparent: Allows all light to pass through (e.g., clear glass).
  • Translucent: Allows some light to pass through (e.g., frosted glass).
  • Opaque: Blocks all light (e.g., wood, metal).
  • Light bounces off shiny surfaces like mirrors.
  • This bouncing back of light is called reflection.

  • The Moon does not have its own light—it reflects sunlight!
