Form regular plurals with -s, -es and -ies

Key Notes:-

  • Rule: Add -s to most nouns to make them plural.
  • Example Words:
    • cat → cats
    • dog → dogs
    • book → books

  • Rule: Add -es to nouns that end in -s, -x, -z, -sh, or -ch.
  • Example Words:
    • bus → buses
    • box → boxes
    • quiz → quizzes
    • dish → dishes
    • church → churches

  • Rule: Change -y to -ies for nouns that end in a consonant followed by -y.
  • Example Words:
    • city → cities
    • party → parties
    • puppy → puppies

  • Nouns ending in -y after a vowel just get -s.
    • Example Words:
      • boy → boys
      • toy → toys
