• Example: 32 ÷ 8 → 32 – 8 – 8 – 8 – 8 = 0 (4 subtractions, so the quotient is 4).

Division as Grouping

• Example: If you have 24 apples and want to put them into groups of 8, you will have 3 groups (24 ÷ 8 = 3).

Using Multiplication to Check

• Since division is the opposite of multiplication, you can check your answer by multiplying.
• Example: If 40 ÷ 8 = 5, then 5 × 8 = 40.
