- What are Subordinating Conjunctions?
- Subordinating conjunctions are words that connect a dependent (subordinate) clause to an independent clause.
Examples: because, when, if, although, after, before, while, since
- Using ‘because’:
- ‘Because’ is used to show a reason for something.
Example: I stayed inside because it was raining.
- Using ‘when’:
- ‘When’ is used to talk about time or something that happens.
Example: I go to bed when it gets dark.
- Using ‘if’:
- ‘If’ is used to show a condition or something that might happen.
Example: I will help you if you need me.
- Using ‘although’:
- ‘Although’ is used to show a contrast or opposite idea.
Example: Although it was cold, we went for a walk.
- Using ‘after’:
- ‘After’ is used to show what happens next in time.
Example: We will eat dinner after we finish homework.

- ‘Before’ is used to show something that happens earlier in time.
