Adjectives describe people, places, or things. When we compare, we use special forms called comparative and superlative adjectives.


Add -er to the adjective OR use more.

Example:

  • ๐ŸŒŸ tall โ†’ taller โ†’ My brother is taller than me.
  • ๐ŸŒŸ happy โ†’ happier โ†’ She is happier today.
  • ๐ŸŒŸ beautiful โ†’ more beautiful โ†’ This flower is more beautiful than that one.

Tip:

  • If adjective ends with y, change y โ†’ i before adding -er.
    • happy โ†’ happier
    • funny โ†’ funnier

Add -est to the adjective OR use most.

Example:

  • ๐ŸŒŸ tall โ†’ tallest โ†’ He is the tallest in the class.
  • ๐ŸŒŸ happy โ†’ happiest โ†’ She is the happiest in the group.
  • ๐ŸŒŸ beautiful โ†’ most beautiful โ†’ This is the most beautiful painting.
