  • The past tense describes actions that have already happened.
  • For regular verbs, we usually add -ed, but irregular verbs change in special ways.

  • These verbs change form in the past tense, so they don’t follow the regular -ed rule.
  • Examples:

    • We ate dinner at 6 PM. (Past tense of “eat”)

  • Look for verbs that don’t have -ed at the end but still talk about the past.
  • Examples:
    • He wrote a story. (Past tense of “write”)
    • The dog hid under the table. (Past tense of “hide”)

  • Use the correct past tense form of the irregular verb:
    1. We _ (see) the movie last week. → Saw
    2. She _ (throw) the ball to her friend. → Threw
    3. The bird _ (fly) over the trees. → Flew
