Form and use the irregular past tense: set 1

  • The past tense tells us about actions that have already happened.
  • Example: “I played soccer yesterday.” (Played = past tense)

  • Most verbs in the past tense add -ed (e.g., “walk” becomes “walked”).
  • Irregular verbs do not follow this rule and change in different ways.

    • EatAte
    • HaveHad
    • DoDid
    • MakeMade
    • TakeTook
    • SeeSaw
    • GetGot
    • SaySaid

  • These verbs change completely, so you need to memorize them.
