To have: use the correct form

  • Present tense:
    • I have (used with “I”)
    • You have (used with “you”)
    • He/She/It has (used with “he”, “she”, or “it”)
    • We/They have (used with “we” or “they”)
  • Past tense:
    • I had (used with all subjects)
    • You had
    • He/She/It had
    • We/They had

  • Examples:
    • I have a pencil.
    • He has a dog.
    • They have three books.
  • Remember:
    • Use “has” for he, she, it.
    • Use “have” for I, you, we, they.

  • Examples:
    • Yesterday, I had a sandwich for lunch.
    • She had a great time at the park.
    • We had a party last weekend.
  • Use “had” for all subjects to talk about something in the past.
