Phin linked her new story-ball with her brain and turned it on. This one played an adventure story that took place on Wizzit, a neighbouring planet. The characters always ate delicious food-pods, just as the real Wizzitens probably did. Phin’s stomach growled as she imagined biting into a freshly picked food-pod.

This year, it had been too cold on her own planet, Beebott, to grow enough food-pods for everyone. Phin was always hungry. But everyone knew that millions of food-pods grew on Wizzit.

Phin went into the family room, where her mother was sorting the family’s newest story-balls.

‘Mother,’ said Phin, ‘we should trade something with Wizzit to get food-pods.’

‘Don’t be silly,’ Mother replied. ‘You know Wizzitens are stingy. They would never share their food-pods.’

Phin sighed. She’d heard all the stories. People said that the Wizzitens never gave away anything. But are they all really like that? Phin wondered.
