  • Mental Action Verbs: These verbs describe actions that involve thinking or feeling.
    • Examples: think, learn, believe, remember, understand.

  • State of Being Verbs: These verbs describe the condition or state of a subject.
    • Examples: is, are, was, were.

  • To identify an action verb in a sentence, ask the question: What is happening?
    • Example: In the sentence “The dog barks,” the action verb is “barks” because it tells what the dog is doing.

  • Action verbs make sentences clearer and more exciting.
  • Examples of Sentences:
    • “The boy runs fast.”
    • “She paints a beautiful picture.”
