Alphabetical order means arranging words in the same order as the letters appear in the alphabet. It’s like lining up using the ABCs! Knowing how to put things in order alphabetically helps us find things easily in books, dictionaries, and even online!

Let’s remember the alphabet:
A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O, P, Q, R, S, T, U, V, W, X, Y, Z
Each letter has its own place in the alphabet. This order helps us organize words.
- Look at the First Letter: First, we look at the very first letter of each word.
- Compare: If the first letters are different, put them in ABC order. For example, ‘Apple’ comes before ‘Cat’ because ‘A’ comes before ‘C’.
- If First Letters are the Same: This is where it gets interesting! If the first letters are the same, we look at the second letter.
- Compare Second Letters: Compare the second letters. Put the words in order based on which second letter comes first in the alphabet.
- If Second Letters are Also the Same: If the first and second letters are the same, look at the third and so on, until you find a difference.
