Add three or more numbers up to three digits each

  • Addition means combining numbers to find the total (sum).
  • We can add 3 or more numbers at a time.
  • Numbers can be 1-digit, 2-digit, or 3-digit.
  • Always start adding from the ones place, then tens place, then hundreds place.
  • If the sum in one place is more than 9, carry over to the next place.

  • Write the numbers one below the other (align digits in ones, tens, and hundreds columns).
  • Start with the ones column → add all digits.
  • If the sum is 10 or more, carry the extra digit to the tens column.
  • Add the tens column → don’t forget to add the carry.
  • Add the hundreds column → again, include any carry if present.
  • Write the final answer (sum).

  • Example 1:
  • Add 124 + 132 + 143
    124
  + 132
  + 143
  ------
    399
  • So, 124 + 132 + 143 = 399

  • Example 2 (with carry):
  • Add 256 + 178 + 235
    256
  + 178
  + 235
  ------
    669
  • So, 256 + 178 + 235 = 669

  • 145 + 223 + 112 = ?
  • 321 + 215 + 143 = ?
  • 408 + 256 + 134 = ?
  • 129 + 178 + 243 = ?
  • 300 + 250 + 199 = ?

Add the ones. Add 8 + 4 + 6. Remember to carry over.

8 tens = 80 ones

Add the tens. Add 1 + 1 + 5 .

Add the hundreds. Bring down the 2.

The sum is 278.

Add the ones. Add 7 + 0 + 9 . Remember to carry over.

Add the tens. Add 1 + 3 + 0.

Add the hundreds. Bring down the 5.

The sum is 546.
