Which number is greatest/least?

  • The greatest number is the biggest number in a group.
  • Example: Between 35, 42, 17, the greatest number is 42.
  • The least number is the smallest number in a group.
  • Example: Between 20, 13, 27, the least number is 13.

Look at the number of digits

A number with more digits is greater.
Example: 3-digit number > 2-digit number.

If numbers have the same digits, compare from left to right

Example:
Compare 324 and 342
โ†’ First digit: 3 = 3
โ†’ Second digit: 2 < 4
So, 342 is greater.
